Just this week, shopDisney MerchPass is a new way to purchase popular items: . If you’ve ever hopped on shopDisney and tried to score an exclusive item, you know there are glitches. So many, in fact, that it suspended its popular Minnie mouse: The Main Attraction line due to bots and overwhelming demand. While it can look confusing, here’s the scoop on how shopDisney MerchPass works and what you need to do to sign up.
How Does MerchPass Work? The Basics
Basically, MerchPass is a lottery-style way of purchasing merchandise on shopDisney. Each promotion has a limited time frame to enter, with less than two days to sign up. If picked, you’ll have early access to the merchandise you applied for. At this time, it looks like chosen folks will be notified around a day after the promotion ends and winners will be notified the next day. Additionally, legal residents of the U.S. 50 states (and D.C.) 18 years old and over are permitted to enter.
If you’re chosen, you’ll have until sometime during the next day to purchase the product. For example, the Peter Pan’s Flight series of Minnie Mouse: The Main Attraction promotion is between 7/17/20 and 7/28/20. Drawing will be held on or around 7/30/20 and selected entrants will be notified by 7/30/20 at 5pm PT. Lottery winners will then have through 7/31/20 to purchase the item through the shopDisney link provided.
To purchase the items, you’ll need to log into your shopDisney account. From there, you should see them already in the “My Bag” area of your account.
Keep in mind, too, that MerchPass is only for super in demand items. So, things like Disney masks will probably not be using the feature.
How Many Submissions Am I Allowed?
You’re only permitted to submit once to each MerchPass promotion. If several submissions are received, only the first will be recorded. And, most importantly, if you are submit many times, all will be declared void and entrant will be disqualified from future promotions. That should hopefully stop the bots. Nutshell? One entry per person, per product.
On drawing day, look for an email from shopDisney MerchPass – Early Access Drawing to see if you’ve been selected. Those not chosen will not receive an email.
Can I Sign Up for More Than One MerchPass Promotion at a Time?
Yes! As stated in the official MerchPass rules, most promotions offer multiple drawings, each for a different product.
If you win multiple items, you can change your mind, however.

Remember, you’ll need to be logged into your shopDisney account. If you don’t have one, follow the prompts to create one. Then, before a promotion, go ahead and sign into your account to make sure everything looks correct and it works to be on the safe side.
Do You Have to Purchase an Item if Selected?
You don’t. Also, there’s no penalty or fee associated with not purchasing. But, in good faith, only apply for the items you want to give folks a fair chance at winning. This will come in handty if you budget changes quickly or you’ve simply changed your mind.
Can An Opportunity to Purchase an Item Be Transferred?
Nope. If selected, you’ll have to purchase it yourself.
