Festival of Fantasy Parade Return Date
Checking out Disney Parks Blog today, I saw the announcement that the Festival of Fantasy return date was officially announced. Beginning March 9th, guests with both a valid ticket and disney park reservation for Magic Kingdom will be able to see the colorful beauty that is the floats, dancers, and of course, Disney characters. The parade has been a fun midday break since it debuted and I certainly can’t wait to hear its catchy tune the next time I’m in the park.
According to Disney Parks Blog, the official Disney website that announced it today:
Dazzling guests since its debut, the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade features beloved characters from “The Princess and the Frog,” “Tangled,” “Peter Pan” and more bringing their individual stories to life on enchanting floats that look as though the characters themselves had a hand in crafting them. Looming 26 feet above the parade route and 35 feet in length, the fire-breathing Maleficent Dragon float returns just as menacing as ever. We’re delighted to have this show-stopping beauty be a part of our glittering assemblage.
Yeah, just reading that makes me giddy. I miss the dragon, the giant swings on the Tangled float, the gorgeous dancers – you name it.
Festival of Fantasy Parade Route
The parade route for Festival of Fantasy starts, like many of the Magic Kingdom parades, in Frontierland near Splash Mountain. It then travels through Frontierland, turns right in Liberty Square to Cinderella Castle, and then heads down Main Street U.S.A. to Town Square. Finally, it finishes in between the fire station and Main Street Barber Shop.

Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade
Also announced today is another cavalcade that will make its way along the same parade route as Festival of Fantasy and it looks like a massive one, too: Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade!
With almost 30 characters from both disney & Pixar, we’ll be able to see Zootopia’s Nick & Judy, The Three Caballeros’ José Carioca and Panchito, and even Moana, Merida (two official DisneyPrincesses) and the Incredibles.
But the most exciting character is the debut of Miguel from Coco. Donning a maroon and gold charro (mariachi suit),
Kicking off the fun on Feb. 11 is the brand-new “Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade!” Starring nearly 30 of your favorite Disney and Pixar friends, this super-sized cavalcade features Nick and Judy from “Zootopia,” Baloo and King Louie from “The Jungle Book,” José Carioca and Panchito from “The Three Caballeros,” plus Merida, Moana, The Incredibles, and more – including the Magic Kingdom debut of Miguel from “Coco” in his mariachi finest.
If you’re not familiar with Magic Kingdom cavalcades, think of them as micro parades. Instead of multiple floats and synched music, cavalcades aren’t on a times schedule like a traditional parade. Honestly, I enjoy them very much. I like the fact that I can see popular Disney characters without having to find a spot for a parade. I’m happy to smile, wave, & cheer and then be on my way to the next attraction.
